I'd be surprisingly good for you
Hi folks!
Long time no post, uh? Yep, things have been quite tough these days, and I've been working and studying too much – end of term is always like that.
Last week I took an IQ Test, which I think you might enjoy taking. Of course some things, for the Brazilian ones, are difficult, since it's to measure intelligence of English-speaking people and there are some language questions, but, anyway, you can have lotsa fun.
Of course I'm not gonna tell ya my score, but I can tell that they said I'm a Visionary Philosopher, and as for how much I "love" Philosophy, I'm quite happy with that...
Go there and take it; and if you don't wanna tell me your score, OK, I understand. J
I don't have much more to tell here, since things have been a little bit repetitive. Sunday 13 was Mamma's birthday and we had the recitation of the Rosary here at home, with some typical June food, and it was very nice. It wasn't a party at all, but we had a lot of fun, ate a lot and laughed a lot too.
And just for fun, take a look at this. You know how much I love when people speak perfect English like this. Yeah?!

Oh, you guys know how much I like songs. I don't like movies that much, but there are some musicals which I really love. One of them is Evita, in which, of course, Madonna is the actress in main role. And then I decided to post here one of the parts I like best, which is the part she, Evita, meets Peron and they have their first conversation, full of between-the-lines stuff. Something to be read and listened. Even though I'm a suspect!
11- I'd Be Surprisingly Good For You
lyrics by Tim Rice, music by Andrew Lloyd Webber vocals by Madonna and Jonathan Pryce Disc 1, Track 11, Time: 4:19
------------------------- (Eva:) Colonel Peron (Peron:) Eva Duarte
(Eva and Peron:) I've heard so much about you
(Eva and Peron:) I'm amazed, for I'm only an actress [a soldier] Nothing to shout about [One of the thousands] Only a girl on the air [Defending the country he loves]
(Eva:) But when you act, the things you do affect us all
(Peron:) But when you act, you take us away from the squalor of the real world Are you here on your own?
(Eva:) Yes, oh yes
(Peron:) So am I, what a fortunate coincidence Maybe you're my reward for my efforts here tonight
(Eva:) It seems crazy but you must believe There's nothing calculated, nothing planned Please forgive me if I seem naive I would never want to force your hand But please understand, I'd be good for you
I don't always rush in like this Twenty seconds after saying hello Telling strangers I'm too good to miss If I'm wrong I hope you'll tell me so But you really should know, I'd be good for you I'd be surprisingly good for you
I won't go on if I'm boring you But do you understand my point of view? Do you like what you hear, what you see And would you be, good for me too?
I'm not talking of a hurried night A frantic tumble then a shy goodbye Creeping home before it gets too light That's not the reason that I caught your eye Which has to imply, I'd be good for you I'd be surprisingly good for you
(Peron:) Please go on, you enthrall me I can understand you perfectly And I like what I hear, what I see, and knowing me I would be good for you too
(Eva:) I'm not talking of a hurried night A frantic tumble then a shy goodbye Creeping home before it gets too light That's not the reason that I caught your eye Which has to imply, I'd be good for you I'd be surprisingly good for you

A month later...
Really dunno what to write here, since it's being difficult to write for NONSENSE 1 and to get some time do it.
Anyway, the semester is coming to an end and I've been praying for having more time and money next semester, when the post-grad is over. I've been very tired and my head is starting to get confused – old people stuff, if you can't get it.
Well, it may seem this blog is only to write about Madonna, but since I can write in English, I think it has something to do with her. Then, "Yakov and the Seven Thieves" is her next book to be published, and I received this pic and would like to share with you.

I've been tempted to buy "The English Roses", but haven't had money, so I go to the bookstore, take a look at it, and say "Maybe next time"...
Talking about time, it's over by now.
Hope I can bring you guys something more interesting next time.
See ya!

Well, I was in need of a pic here, thought there was something missing, then I decided to post this pic taken in January 2002, when I had a rastafari, cos I'm thinking of having it again...
Every time I teach songs at CNA I bring the song to the NONSENSEY. Then, this one I heard first time about 5 years ago, when I got Marisa Monte's CD as a Secret Santa present. Now, it's a hit again, as one of Maria Clara's song in "Celebrity". Hope you enjoy it!
PS: I heard it through the grapevine means "I heard a rumor"...
I heard it through the grapevine
(Noeman Whitfield / Barret Strong)
By: Michael McDonald
I bet you wonder how I knew
'bout your plans to make me blue
With some other guys you knew before
'tween the two of us guys
You know I love you more
It took me by surprise
I must say
When I found out yesterday
(Bridge)
Don't you know
(Chorus)
I heard it through the grapevine
Not much longer would you be mine
I heard it through the grapevine
And I'm just about to lose my mind
Honey, honey, yeah
I know a man ain't supposed to cry
But these tears
I can't hold inside
Losin' you
Would end my life, you see
Cause you mean that much to me
You could have told me yourself
That you loved someone else
(Bridge)
Instead...
Chorus
People say believe half of what you see
Some and none of what you hear
But I can't help but be confused
If it's true please tell me, dear
Do you plan to let me go
For the other guy you loved before?

Sunny Sunday
I hope everything's doing fine with you guys.
Sunny Sunday and lotsa work to be done, but I'll do my best for having everything done for tomorrow.
Yeah, I've already told many a you, and I suppose some must (or at least should) have perceived I've been on a diet. The beginning was very hard, as much as it's being right now, next to the end. So, anyway, I'm starting a campaign (I luv campaigns!) called MAK'EM FAT, and this is the picture that shows what I mean. LOL!

Today's song? Another I have worked. It's in Malhação's soundtrack.
I don't like rock very much, but I liked this one. Enjoy it!
Times like these
Foo Fighters
I, I'm a one way motorway
I'm the one that drives away
Then follows you back home
I, I'm a street light shining
I'm a wild light blinding bright
Burning off alone
It's time like these you learn to live again
It's time like these you give and give again
It's time like these you learn to love again
It's time like these, time and time again
I, I'm a new day rising
I'm a brand new sky
To hang the stars upon tonight
I, I'm a little divided
Do I stay or run away
And leave it all behind?

Saturday nite live
Here I am
Broken wings
Quiet thoughts
Unspoken dreams...
Well, here I am back again! Trying to bring you some news in English too, and again. Oh, and the verses above belong to Rick Martin, in the song She's all I've ever had.
Well, about the blogs our students at CNA are developing, I hope you have enjoyed them. Some more messages are being and will be posted, and I'd love if you could appreciate their work. The links are on your right! Oh, almost forgot: PLEASE COMMENT!
Back to everyday life, we're in Holy Week Holidays, even though I didn't quite have a holiday, of those in which you can sleep, do nothing and so on. Had lotsa things to do, things that had been kept for "the day I can", and Thursday and today (Saturday) were this(these) day(s). And I didn't mention the work, uh?
So, since it's holiday, I'd like to wish you a Happy Easter, with lots of eggs, but not (only) chocolate eggs, but eggs of all types, filled with love, peace, health and happiness.

Also, there are more pictures, which were taken in São Paulo, in January. Long time to have them developed, but they're finally here.

This one is with my mates at the Congress; at the Crowne Plaza Hotel lounge.

This one is with my cousin Junior, our aunt Zelia, and aunt Jacinta (Jr's mom).
& since we're with this stuff of pictures, I decided to take pics of what is very important for me: Theodorico. In fact, his name is Theodoro Ludovico, but my cousin Gabriel called it that way and I kinda liked the sonority; hope you guys feel the same.

So, whenever you see him around, I'm probably around too...
What else? Well, just running, not to be caught by all the bad things that still surround us, but eager to better times of love and peace.
Cheers!!!

NONSENSY
Hi there!
I just came to show you a picture which I think is gonna hit the parades. Since I have the Nonsense 1, and the symbol is a pierced kid, I couldn't help bringing this one for you guys. I decided to call him NONSENSY, or NONSENSINHO, in good Tupiniquim.
Hope you enjoy it, and as soon as possible, this blog is gonna be updated.
Cheers...

Beginning...
Hi, everyone!
Well, as I said, I'm gonna try to keep this other blog, and it's gonna be just in English. Of course, sometimes I'm gonna put something here and at the original NONSENSE at the same time, but it'll soon be the English one, and over!
OK, I have to tell something: I decided to have this blog here while I was searching for the project we're developing at CNA. So, I'd like you to visit the sites we're building over there – they're just in the beginning.

Then, I wanna start with some news about Madonna, whom you guys know is my idol. She's on a new world tour, and unfortunately I suppose she's not coming to Brazil. Anyway, let's hope and wait cos, who knows what's coming??? Then, the news I have, straight from madonna.com:

MADONNA HITS THE ROAD WITH THE 're-INVENTION' TOUR
"I'm happy to confirm the rumors. Madonna will be going out on tour this spring and summer," announced the star's long time manager, Caresse Henry. Clear Channel Entertainment is the promoter of Madonna's worldwide tour, which begins in Los Angeles on May 24th.
The tour will sweep across major markets in the US including Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Chicago, Atlanta and Miami and then continue with stops in London, Paris and proposed visits to Israel and Ireland.
According to Ms. Henry, "Madonna has already started rehearsals for 'The re-Invention Tour' and she can't wait to get back on stage to recreate her songs from the earliest days of her career up until the present. There is no doubt that this tour will be the pinnacle of her long standing and well deserved reputation as one of the most exciting live performers of our time. And as a special treat to her fans, existing Icon fan club members will have access to tickets prior to the on-sale dates in local markets."
The Material Girl, a Warner Bros./Maverick recording artist, represented by Creative Artists Agency, is a five-time Grammy® winner, a multi-MTV Award winner and has sold over 250 million albums during the span of her extraordinary two decade career. In addition, she has had more Top Ten singles than any female artist in history and second only to Elvis Presley.
The current schedule follows with additional shows announce at a later date.
5/24 Los Angeles: Forum 5/29 Las Vegas: MGM Grand Garden Arena 6/8 San Jose: HP Pavilion 6/13 Washington, DC: MCI Center 6/16 New York City: Madison Sq. Garden 6/17 New York City: Madison Sq. Watch out for your "Inglish"!
Learning English
Although I said I'd write only in English on this blog, since it's gonna be also for my students, I decided to post this report in Portuguese, since it's important for everyone who wants to learn (and improve) their English. I've already sent it for some people thru e-mail, but now it's available for everybody.
Veja alguns exemplos:
NATURAL = NATURAL TOTAL = TOTAL GENERAL = GENERAL FATAL = FATAL SENSUAL = SENSUAL
And, paraphrasing TV, "that's all, folks!"
See ya soon!
